It runs an hour too long and hits you with totally unnecessary homosexual themes and multiple F bombs in the first 10 minutes of the movie. It’s unnecessary and has nothing to do with the film. It’s typical modern day Hollywood leftist dogma using the medium of cinema to push the leftist/liberal agenda (while you pay for it). It’s totally unnecessary to discuss sexual orientation (Gay, Straight, Bi or otherwise) and drop F bombs every other word in this movie. Anyone with an IQ north of 130 will get bored here very quickly and see it for what it is. Until the consumer stands up to this tripe and refuses to support it, we’ll continue to see hack jobs like this from Hollywood. The movie goes on and on meanders when it could have been cut to a succinct two hour run time. The movie hits the viewer with cliche after cliche and ultimately insults the intelligence of the viewer. ALL WE WANT TO SEE IS A GOOD HORROR MOVIE, THAT’S IT. The film is a trippy dramatic epic ride even if it isn’t always scary. It is faithful to the book even if some things were left out. Bill’s wife has a disappointingly very small role in this version. This film is so long that I am sort of glad they didn’t fit her in more than one scene though. They mostly just chose to make it a story about friendship and love within the Losers Club. Rather than making anyone out of the Losers Club, matter too much. Bill Skarsgard gets more room to show what he can do in the role of Pennywise. Without so much CGI stealing his thunder this time. Now I can confirm that he is about as good as Tim Curry was. Bill Hader owns every scene he is in and really does feel like an adult version of Richie. This time we gets to see there’s big heart in the wise cracking goofball. The flashbacks can slow the film down. Since for the heck of it we learn that Pennywise haunted them more as kids than the first film showed. Some of those scenes work and some don’t. The ones that do work, at least developed the characters more. I do admit that some parts made me think “that was kind of dumb. ” Other scenes are so good that they outshine the bad scenes however. I enjoyed the movie a lot. I would say though that such a long movie could have probably done the book even more justice than it does. I can't blame anyone but the Author because she was the scriptwriter and very very few Authors get to have any control about how their book is adapted to the big screen. While the books are a very YA version of Fifty Shades of Grey the Author was smart enough to not include that in the movie. I imagine E. L. James would have been fairly pissed lol.
